NO blues and poetry

August 6th, 2012

We were asked to create a special program for the poetryfestival ‘Het Tuinfeest’ in Deventer and decided to work with 3 young poets. After a short rehearsal with Ellen Deckwitz, Vrouwkje Tuinman and Jibbe Willems, we were slightly anxious to perform for the first show in the sold out theatre of Bouwkunde.  But it went all rather well and we, the poets and the audience were thrilled by this refreshing combination of poetry and music. In fact we liked it so much we are looking forward for more opportunities to work with these great poets. And maybe, just maybe we will be recording some of this stuff later.

Until then enjoy the videos and feel free to share the material. Unfortunately for our non Dutch speaking fans it is all in Dutch. Haytham Safia did a separate set with Rodhan Al Khalidi which contained some beautiful Arabic poetry with Haythams music. No recording were made but given the great response by the audience I guess we will be working with Rodaan again in the future.

Enjoy the videos and we are open for suggestions if you know more great poets to work with!
